Australia to support PNG after ferry catastrophe

The ferry carrying 350 people this early morning sent a distress signal from waters amongst Lae and Kimbe West.

Ms Gillard later on explained the boat had gone down.

"There has been a boat go cheap soccer scarves down in PNG with, as we recognize it, 350 individuals on board," Ms Gillard said in Melbourne.

"This is naturally a key misfortune.

"We have been asked to supply aid to PNG and cheap soccer scarves we are delivering support to PNG."

Mr Gillard did not elaborate on the big and tall soccer jerseys help.

Australian officers had been also making an attempt to find out no matter whether any Australians have been on board, she stated.
